I went to bed last night thinking about how fun life can be post bariatric surgery. It’s wonderful to immerse yourself in positive things that bring good to others. Reading over blogs and FB yesterday, it brought a smile to me to see all the good things people do to pay back their good fortune in the bariatric world. Yesterday was a WALK FROM OBESITY event in Mass. Beth Sheldon Badore’s team was lead the walk, not only did they walk for a good cause, they had fun doing it. I saw some hula-hooping going on, laughing and generally a good time.

Beth also led a drive last month to get people to sign up and become members of the OAC. Being a membr of the OAC is a great thing, and they do many things in this community to stand up for rights of the obese persons. If you are interested in signing up for membership please do so, at least check out what they are all about.
Today we have Shana walking in a Marathon with Michelle and Shawn… Heels for Hills… rock on girls.
You ladies are not nearly as bad as your title BBGC, you are really bad at being bad… seriously.
A few years ago I had no idea how many positive people there are in the bariatric community who really just want to pay forward and see everyone have the opportunity for bariatric surgery as well as opportunity for follow up care, therapy, dietary counseling ect. My perspective changed when I started looking at people “in a different light”.
Now, I know some people are just negative and are always going to be. Some people are just never going to get along. There is nothing wrong with that, everyone is at different places in their life. Some people are more forgiving and understanding of people, and they have love in their heart for everyone. Some people are not at a point where they can forgive people who they have had disagreements with in life. I suppose it is something to ponder. In my heart I do believe everything happens for a reason, it’s our job to figure out the reason and not to become a victim ofcircumstance.
In the meanwhile, I am working on forgiving myself. I mean complete forgiveness. Forgiving myself of choices I have made and accepting where those decisions led me in life. It is amazing what having unconditional love, understanding, compassion and nonjudgmental attitude for the self can do. It releases a heaviness and fills your world with light.
Do you take yourself lightly? Do you laugh off and forgive yourself for wrong choices? Do you know why Angels can fly? Because they take themselves lightly.
What will you do today to put positive in the world? Will you walk for a cause? Donate to a foodbank? Become a big sister, or big brother to a child? Will you visit the elderly in a nursing home? Or just say a kind word to someone that needs it? I believe we can each make a difference.
I am going to the beach this morning, I need to be near the water where I can clear my thoughts. I am finally feeling well after a couple of weeks of feeling ill. I seemed to have picked up the crud, in NYC and it took awhile to release it. Now that I am feeling better, it’s time to visit the beach, study for my A&P test tomorrow. (Circulatory, Cardiac and Lymph BIG test) I think I will just emerge myself in the ocean, then emerge myself in my textbook today.
This thread makes me think of a kaleidoscope. A kaleidoscope is made of junk, the beads, buttons, nuts, bolts and plastic pieces that most people consider trash. You put these pieces in the end of this tube with a mirror on the other end and hold it up to the light… and suddenly the view becomes magnificent. Many people would have pushed those little pieces of trash to the side, discarded them. The people who know to shine light on things and redirect, are the one who find treasures in the least expected places and people.
Shine your light today, extend light to others, No-one ever put out or extinguished their light by extending it to others, instead it makes the light stronger and bigger than ever.
Can you be a mirror today, and redirect the light and look at others in a positive way? I am making this challenge today.
I will smile at everyone I see today, if someone looks sad, upset, defensive, lonely or angry, I will still smile and look them in the eyes and say hello.
Let’s go shine…
