I was tagged on Faceboook and told I had a mission: Ladies please tell us in a post, Why You Write? Please also tag 5 others and offer them 3 pearls of wisdom for other writers/bloggers.
Why do I write:
That’s a wide open question. I write because I have something to say. It’s how I burn out loud. My blog is unique in the way that I am often referred to as the “touchy feely” writer. I put my emotions on paper as I write. Does that make me vulnerable? Some people think so, but me I say it makes me real.
Some people say I wear my heart on my sleeve, therefore I wear my heart on my blog…. Well, WTF does that mean exactly? Tee, hee. See I can voice my opinion, just ask me 😉 Or just read my blog….(it’s a place where I often voice my opinion)
Because I am a touchy feely writer, my writings often touch the person reading them in sensitive spots. People are often grateful to realize they are not alone in this world with some of the things they feel, and sometimes people are offended that I would write about these raw emotions and feelings, and sometimes it makes people angry. If my blog pervokes any emotion in you as the reader, I ask you to sit down and ponder why this emotion is coming up. What are you telling yourself? Why are you blaming it on the words you read, when all they did is reflect something to you? But, please don’t try to persuade me to change how I blog, or what I say… my blog is a reflection of me… and if you ask me to change the way I write, you are telling me I am not good enough the way I am, and that I need to change. That’s just not true.
3 Pearls of Wisdom
1- Be yourself and write from your heart. If you write from your head or mind, more than likely your words are going to be tainted by the words or opinions of others. Or you may even find yourself writing to answer people rather than writing your own originial content. This is what I call competition blogging. To read competition blogging is like watching a soap opera or a train wreck.
2- Blog the truth.. yes we know you want to BE positive. Truth is life is all about positive and negative. To look at only the positive is to live in a fantasy. On top of that, it is a lie. I am going to give you an example of what I mean here. My life at the moment is a bit turned upside down, I became unemployed in October, and I could no longer afford my apartment in December. I moved in with a friend knowing that she would eventually need to turn my room into a nursery for her grandchild. Then I moved into another friends daughters room. (This is not exactly your positive cinderella story, but its my truth) For a long time I have struggled with to write or not to write because people want positive…
Here is my view on this When I read the book EAT LOVE PRAY.. I loved it and it was very inspiring. But, lets face it… how many people go through a midlife crisis or a divorce and have the funds to take a year off from life and travel the world to find themselves? Yeah, great plan!! But in my life it would only be a fantasy. I am happy for the writer who had the chance to live that life, but I could not relate to it.
I decided to take my life situation that was a (negative) or a darkness, storm, or shadow however you term it and share it. The way to bring positivity to the negative is to learn to dance in the rain, bring your storm to the light so you can experience the rainbow. The rainbow is the bridge to unconditional self love and light.
People can relate to the storms because they happen to everyone. People will learn and be inspired if you can live a life where you can dance in the rain as well as in your travels to Italy, Bali and India… just take life and dance.
3-Take yourself lightly…and your writing. Do you know why angels can fly? They take themselves lightly…..Live, Love and LAUGH….let that show in your blog and your writings.
Thanks for listening!
