My nursing career started 21 years ago, and since then I have done so much research on nutrition and health and wellness. If I had to tell you where I have learned the most about all these things, it would be from the School of Hard Knocks at Life Universe-ity. My bariatric surgery has given me the opportunity to know more about nutrition than any classes every gave me.
My vitamin schedule is tailored to suite my lifestyle.
*I donate blood regularly
*I had proximal RNY gastric bypass
*I am a menstruating female
Also there are several Bariatric Vitamins on the Market today. Bariatric Advantage, Building BLocks, and Celebrate Vitamins to name three…
So my schedule goes like this for the moment.
AM~ My breakfast usually consists of Fage yogurt with fresh berries and 1 tablespoon of fresh ground flax seed. (Flax seed being one of my supplements)
1-Calcium Citrate 500 mg
1-Probiotic (yes I know studies say it helps us lose weight after gastric bypass, but the truth is…it’s good for us too!)
1-dose of Monavie ( I have been taking this for a couple of years. One of my friends Tania Moore got me started on this and I love it) This product for me gives me antioxidants and helps with cleansing (think regular bowel movements here)
1 Calcium Citrate 500
1-Tablespoon Barleans The Essential Woman Organic Oils
1-Calcium Citrate 500mg
1-Vitamin D3 5,000IU
1 Iron 60 mg
I also drink at least 3 glasses of Yogi ginger tea a day and 8 glasses of water.
Right now my lab work is all in a very good range, I do keep close tabs on this and regulate my vitamins accordingly.
Some notes. Space your calcium and iron at least 2 hours apart. Do not take Iron with meals if the meals contain calcium rich foods. This is why I take iron at bedtime. Take your Calcium and if you chose to take probiotics on a full stomach it will help you digest them.
Flax seed is more effective if bought whole and kept in the refrigerator and ground fresh daily. It’s a superfood by the way.
If you have questions regarding what to take, and when you can leave a comment. I will get back to you asap.
